Type: House

Beautiful secluded 1450-square-foot mountain home, one of only a handful of private homes -- and the only vacation rental -- located within the Arapaho National Forest, adjacent to the Mount Evans Wilderness Area and close to Echo Lake and Mt. Evans. Hike, cross-country ski, sled, explore, or just relax and take in the million dollar views without leaving the property or getting into a car. Across the well-maintained access road -- Colorado Scenic Highway 103 -- are more Forest Service trails and roads for hiking, snow-shoeing, or cross-country skiing. These trails lead to Mount Evans and the Mount Evans Wilderness Area. The house is privately situated on 16 acres and you cannot see another house or the road from this house or its two decks. Chicago Creek runs through the property for half a mile, providing private views and fishing. Children will love to roam the woods and make forts in the summer or snowmen in the winter. We have a great sledding hill for youngsters, older kids practice snowboarding on the rails we put up in winter. If you do want to get away, it is only 12 minutes to brew pubs and restaurants in historic and charming Idaho Springs and I-70. From the house, it is 45 minutes to downtown Denver in one direction, or 45 minutes to the top of the Continental Divide in the other direction. Loveland Ski Resort is 40 minutes away. Other major ski resorts are just a little farther. Echo Mountain Ski and Snowboard Resort is 10 miles away.
The house has been almost completely renovated in the last year and is tastefully furnished. Large picture windows and sliding glass doors bring the outdoors inside. The living room has new leather couches, a cozy pellet stove, a genuine Stickley rocker, and a 40 inch flat screen tv with DVD and satellite. We recently added free WiFi. A generous movie collection (150 plus) will satisfy all ages and tastes. The house has a huge selection of games (over 20) and books as well. The dining room table expands to seat everyone. The house has high end mattresses and beds with down comforters that augment the quilts and throws for chilly evenings. The house has two new bathrooms, featuring a walk-in two-person slate shower, marble vanity, and slate floors in the master bathroom. The kitchen is fully equipped with new appliances, spices, oils, and cookbooks. It is easy to cook outside on the front deck with the oversize stainless gas grill or on the Weber charcoal grill on the back deck. 7 picnic tables scattered across the property allow you to pick your dining spot.
This summer is booked almost solid, so now is the time to make reservations for next summer or this coming fall/winter season.
